TiPL is a Persian type writer, with spell checker & predictive text, it shows both, the traditional (فارسی) & Latinised Persian text.

TiPL uses a QWERTY keyboard, this makes it:
1 A great tool for writing Persian, for users who are not too familiar with, or dont have access to, a Persian keyboard.
2 An ideal complementary tool for learning Persian, for learners of any level.

When required, TiPL will convert non-conforming Pinglish words, to conforming versions (see help for more information).

تیپل − تایپ رایتر فارسی با کیبورد کورتی با تصحیح املا  فارسی&لاتین و پیشنهاد واژه

TiPL (Type in Perso-Latin) is part of a suite of software tools, produced to enable Persian speakers use the Latin alphabet to write precise Persian by conforming to a convention (see TiPLs help for further information).

The Convention - Over the last 3 decades or so, many individuals, including TiPLs author, have tried to push for a more comprehensive & precise convention for writing Perso-Latin (PL). As a result, among the active followers, a quasi-convention has evolved. TiPL is built on an improved version of this ‘accepted’ convention.

TiPL consists of 3 panels; one at the top for entering & displaying PL text, the second, a non-editable panel for displaying Perso-Arabic(PA) i.e. Persian. The third displays suggestions based on user input(called the suggestion panel). For each word user enters, there will up to 4 suggestions, each of which is made of PL & PA parts. The suggestions can include the user’s word, if no match is found. PL words entered by user, automatically get converted to the aforementioned convention.

User can select a suggested word by; touching the word in the suggestions panel or, pressing space, in which case a best fit word will be selected. The PL part of the selected word will replace user’s word, if it doesnt follow the convention, and the PA part is displayed in button panel.

Longer term aspirations - By implementing a precise & consistent convention, it is hoped that TiPL, and other similar systems, will help keep alive, the link between the Persian speakers and their cultural heritage, this is especially the case for the 2nd & 3rd generation diaspora who are not fluent in written Persian (PA) but have a good to reasonable fluency in spoken Persian. Of course, this can only be achieved when the use of precise Perso-Latin becomes more widespread & we hope TiPL can contribute in this regard.
